Facades Project
Construction is now underway for the Facades project.
  • The general contractor is Kemna Restoration.
  • Subcontractors on the project include Brand Electric, Reiss & Partners, Harris Glass Co, Inc, Danco Roofing and Muncie Tent & Awning.
  • The remaining work is along the south side of Main Street.  It is expected that this work will continue through October 2015.
  • A brief weekly informational meeting will be held at 9am every Monday at Kemna’s field office at 114 E. Main Street.

Streetscape Project
Streetscape work has been awarded to Milestone Contractors, and preparations are being made for construction. Work is expected to be completed over two construction seasons, as follows:
  • 2015: In August 2015, streetscape work will begin. The initial phase will include Washington Street (north of Main Street) and Franklin Street (east of Washington Street). It is expected that the streetscape work along this corridor will be completed by November of 2015.
  • 2016: In Spring 2016, the contractor will continue the streetscape improvements in the balance of the downtown including work on Franklin, Market, Main and South Washington Streets. Final repaving of the streets is scheduled for late 2016, although it is possible it could take until early 2017.
A weekly informational meeting for streetscape and water projects will occur every Monday at 9am at the gazebo at the intersection of Washington and Franklin Streets.

Downtown Water Mains

Work for the downtown water mains is being completed in multiple phases.
  • The first phase was the line on East Main Street. This work is now complete.
  • Milestone Construction is under construction with water mains in the balance of the downtown. Work in upcoming weeks will include water lines on Washington, Franklin and Main Streets. It is expected that the water main work will be finished by the end of 2015.
  • Concurrent with these projects, the City is replacing most service lines and many water meters throughout the downtown.
A weekly informational meeting for streetscape and water projects will occur every Monday at 9am at the gazebo at the intersection of Washington and Franklin Streets.
