The Delphi City Court is a court of limited jurisdiction, where traffic infractions, and ordinance violations cases are heard and decided. The City Judge is elected to a 4-year term. The City Judge presides over the City Court.

Traffic Violations Bureau

Persons charged with traffic infractions and ordinance violations may be permitted to plead guilty and pay a fine through the Court's Traffic Violations Bureau without appearing in court. To determine if you are eligible, please contact the City Court Clerk.

Court Times

Initial hearings on infraction and ordinance violation cases are held on the first and third Tuesday of the month at 4:00pm. The Court reserves the right to amend this schedule.

Appearing in Court

Persons receiving tickets that require a Court appearance, or persons who do not wish to resolve the case by pleading guilty and paying the assesssd fine should be aware of the following:
  1. Payment must be made in the form of cash, money order, or cashier's check. Company and personal checks are not accepted.
  2. Anyone under 18 years old must appear in Court, and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
  3. Persons may call the Court Clerk of the Delphi City Court if you have any questions about your case. However, wait at least five days after receiving a ticket to ensure the Court staff has the information on file.
  4. Persons must appear in Court on the date shown on the bottom of the ticket, which is an initial hearing date, not a trial date.
  5. Persons may request a continuance by making a request with the Court Clerk before the scheduled hearing date.
Court Room Rules of Etiquette

In order to promote professional and proper decorum, the court advises all who enter to:
  • Dress appropriately, i.e. no shorts, halter tops, lewd clothing.
  • No hats worn by males.
  • No cellular phones or pagers (audible mode).
  • No food and or drinks.
  • No children under 5 vears old.
  • No weapons.
  • No recording devices, cameras, etc. The Court reserves the right to amend these general rules.
